Waterfowl Hunting Guide in North Dakota & the Seasons

The first month of our fall season typically starts with a mixture of both duck and goose field and water hunts. We mix in water and field depending on the situations. 

Normally during the regular fall hunting season, we hunt from lay out blinds or A-frame hunting blinds. While we’d love to hunt from A-frame blinds all the time, some situations don’t always warrant it. If we're hunting ducks & geese over water, we supply marsh seats for each client to sit on, as well. The simple comforts can go a long way hunting waterfowl in North Dakota in the fall! 

Right around Halloween, we transition our guided waterfowl hunts to snow goose hunting in North Dakota. We take pride as a snow goose hunting guide as we don’t skimp on any of the details. We normally wear white suits and lay on lay-out back boards in the decoys. With snow goose hunting in the fall in North Dakota comes large harvests on the regular. If you’ve never experienced a morning of snow goose hunting, you’re in for a real treat. This type of waterfowl hunting is typically big shoots, big spreads, and fast-paced hunting. Clients should expect to bring-white hoodie or white Tyvek suits for all snow goose hunts. We mix it up in the fall and either run one of 2 decoy spreads, depending on the situation. A typical decoy spread is around 1200 fullbodies, or 1000 Sillosocks (windsock decoys).

We hunt snow geese essentially until they migrate out. That varies year over year but some seasons we hunt into Thanksgiving. It all depends on Mother Nature.
